England Looks To Ban Plastic Straws

UK Prime Minister, Theresa May has announced that there could be a ban on the sale of plastic drinking straws and other single-use plastics in England in place by 2019.

The move is the latest in a drive to halt the pollution of the worlds rivers and oceans. Plastic is a growing threat to whales and dolphins as well as seabirds and other marine creatures with over half of all whale and dolphin species recorded eating plastics they've mistaken for food.

Theresa May hopes this announcement will also encourage governments from other countries to join the fight against plastic pollution.
