Dolphins To The Rescue

Every now and again in the news we hear remarkable stories of how dolphins have been seen helping others. Recently, two moving new stories have hit the headlines...

Scientists in South Korea were out on the water when they spotted a pod of 12 long-beaked common dolphins helping to keep a dying dolphin afloat. The sick dolphin was not able to swim properly and so the others joined together to form a kind of raft to support him and allow him to breathe at the surface.Although sadly the dolphin was too poorly to be saved, it is a story that suggests how intelligent and caring dolphins can be.

And in Australia, there are recent reports of a woman who received unexpected help when she got into trouble trying to save her dog from the sea. She claims that a group of dolphins came to the rescue and brought both to safety. It seems a fantastical tale but it is not the first story of dolphins helping humans.
