Orcas Escape Ice Trap
WDC became very worried recently to hear reports of twelve orcas trapped in the ice in Hudson Bay, Canada.
They were a long way from the open ocean and had to share a very small breathing hole to survive.
While everybody was scratching their heads wondering how they could help open up the ice and get the whales back out to sea, Mother Nature stepped in one night causing the winds and tides to open up huge gaps in the ice, some as big as football pitches. The next morning the orcas had gone and couldn’t be found anywhere even after a three hour aeroplane search.
No news is good news and they haven’t been spotted since so, fingers crossed, these incredibly smart whales have made it home to the open ocean.
