Harry Potter Star Stands Up For Whales

Emma WatsonEmma Watson, who plays Hermione Granger in the Harry Potter series of films, has revealed that she would not eat whale meat while on a recent trip to Iceland.

Emma had been in the country shooting a new film and commented on the fact that whale meat is for sale in a number of restaurants. This is true despite thousands of people going out on boats to watch whales in Iceland.

"They take you on these tours," she said. "Let's go see the whales, let's go see the cute little puffins!' And you're like 'This is amazing!' They sell you a cute little cuddly toy, and then they serve it to you for dinner!"

WDCS is asking anyone visiting the amazing country of Iceland to get out on the water to see the whales on a good local whale watch trip, but NOT to eat the meat. An unbelievable 35 to 40% of the meat from minke whales killed by whalers in Iceland is eaten not by Icelandic people but by tourists!
