Ozone depletion and global warming threaten whales, dolphins and porpoises world wide, but nowhere are the impacts more prominent than in the polar regions. Around ten percent of all the world's riverine discharge flow into the Arctic Ocean, resulting in elevated pollution levels - a particular concern for whales, dolphins and porpoises as marine top predators. Some populations of narwhals, belugas and bowheads are still threatened by hunting.

Stop Bloody Whaling
A new threat to the world-wide ban on commercial whaling is looming. For years, Japan, Norway and Iceland have tried to overturn the moratorium on commercial whaling that was imposed by the International Whaling Commission (IWC) in 1986.
