Visiting Iceland

WDCS remains extremely supportive of the Icelandic whale watch industry, many of whom have spoken out publicly against whaling. We understand, however, that some of you may review your travel plans in light of Iceland's on-going whaling. If you feel strongly about this, and have cancelled or postponed a planned visit, please make your concerns known to the Minister of Tourism (details provided below) and let us know, as well.

If you do visit Iceland then we encourage you to support the whale watch industry by taking a trip, but please choose a genuine whale watch company, as this summer, the whalers have announced their intention of running whale watch trips aboard a whaling vessel!

Also, please make sure that you are not inadvertently putting money into the whalers' pockets by visiting one of the restaurants listed in our guide to establishments that serve whale meat.
