Working to end threats to whales and dolphins

harpoonThe first stage of our mission is to stop threats to whales and dolphins.

These threats are many: whaling, dolphin hunts, fisheries bycatch, captivity, chemical and noise pollution, vessel collisions and climate change are all part of the perilous world of today’s whales and dolphins.

By bringing individuals and groups together to create strong local, national and international campaigns, however, we can deal with these threats, and search for ways to end them.

Whaling campaign

WhalingWDCS is leading the fight against whaling. Our team is attanding the annual meeting of the International Whaling Commission and helping to maintain the ban of commercial whaling.

Climate change

climate changeClimate Change is one of the biggest threats facing whales and dolphins today. The climate is changing fast: so fast that some whale and dolphin populations may be unable to adapt.

Captivity

captivityThe worldwide captivity industry threatens wild whale and dolphin populations and inflicts cruelty and suffering on thousands of individual animals.

Fisheries bycatch

Fisheries bycatchThe biggest killer of whales and dolphins across the world is the fishing net. There is no ocean where this is not a serious issue.
