Ensuring the protection of species, populations and their habitats

blue whaleWhile we work to stop the threats to whales and dolphins, we must ensure their protection for the long term.

Individual animals have needs just as do groups and populations, and by working with local communities and governments we aim to protect all whales and dolphins at risk, as well as the places and conditions they need to survive.

Homes for whales

If we are to provide a secure future for whales and dolphins then we must ensure they have places to live where they are safe from threats.

Solitary dolphins

WDCS works to raise awareness of the issues associated with solitary dolphins and, alongside other experts (for example in the UK via the Marine Animal Rescue Coalition) helps to develop management regimes for their protection.
