Call For Trade Sanctions Against Iceland

A number of non-governmental organisations, led by WDCS,  have called on the US to impose trade sanctions against Iceland for "diminishing the effectiveness" of the whaling moratorium and of another global treaty that prohibits trade in endangered species.

This follows the recent expansion of Icelandic whaling activities and reflects the fact that the US has domestic legislation that requires such actions. The issue - including the case against Iceland - is further explained in an article published today in the Los Angeles Times: here.
