WDCS Appointed ‘Environmental Partner’ Of SEA LIFE
WDCS is proud to have been appointed ‘Environmental Partner’ of SEA LIFE.
An agreement sealing the partnership between WDCS and SEA LIFE was signed on 16 January 2009 at the dedication of the newest SEALIFE facility in Porto, Portugal.
Chris Butler-Stroud, WDCS Chief Executive said of the agreement,
“WDCS and SEA LIFE have today come together to further our joint commitment to reach out and inform the public of the need to protect the stunning biodiversity of our shared marine environment. SEA LIFE and WDCS have worked successfully together in the past, for example to prevent the illegal trade in dolphins into the European Union, but this new partnership seeks to reach a wider audience with our shared vision of a world where everyone appreciates, and actively works towards, a marine environment that it both safe for whales and dolphins and which we can all enjoy”.
SEA LIFE is part of the Merlin Entertainments Group. Merlin operates more than 50 attractions worldwide including many iconic brands such as Madame Tussauds and the LEGOLAND theme parks.
SEA LIFE has some 30 facilities and is the #1 aquarium brand in the world, and #2 visitor attraction brand in Europe.
To mark the establishment of the Partnership, SEA LIFE and WDCS are launching a new campaign during 2009 under the 'Save Our Seas' banner to campaign to stop commercial whaling once and for all.
