Entangled Dolphin Freed By Group On Fishing Trip

A dolphin entangled in bouy line from a lobster pot four miles off Florida's coast has been rescued by a group out fishing.

The footage, seen here shows the bottlenose dolphin struggling while still attached to the rope. Nobody knows how long it had been trapped there.

The dangers to whales and dolphins of entanglement in fisheries gear are highlighted in a new report by WDCS.

The report, Shrouded by the Sea, sets out harrowing details of how whales and dolphins slowly meet their death in fishing nets, many suffering extreme injuries in what can be a protracted underwater struggle.
